Feel so happy to see one of our team members adding a new post! Yes.. I have been guilty of not posting for the longest time
Am feeling a little touchy mushy here and wants to say:
Am glad to be part of Singaporelah and part of your lives
Thanks! =)
After 2 years of first person moved & 1 year of 2nd person moved.. I think each & everyone of us are doing so well. Each & everyone moved not for own needs but for the people they love. 2 moved on & change their lives by adding new ones to their couplehood & 2 moved to be closer to the people that they care.
Dave Mustaine quote “Moving on is simple thing, what it leaves behind is hard”
But I think he is not exactly right - moving on is not such a simple thing, it takes quite a lot of courage to leave behind what is familliar & comfortable.
Thus based on Singapore-lah’s experiences, they would quote
“Moving on is a courageous thing because of what it leaves behind is as beautiful & important as moving on”
just when I thought that sometimes God is too busy with people who needs more help & forget folks (ordinary & contented) like us .. We had a pleasant & simple gift - a reunion @ Singapore…
good food, good times..
Time really waits for no man.. This blog is already 2 years old !!
Still - I think the Singapore-lah had a smashing 2 years …and many many many more spectacular 2 years to come…
Happy Belated Birthday - Singapore-lah
I have chance to visit one place in Thailand called Chaiyaphom. It is about 500 km. away from Bangkok. I have been once 10 years ago with my old film camera. Now, everything is changed. Technology move to digital and definitely, place also change. Last time, I can walk in the field and shoot the picture very closely. Nowadays, everywhere has fence all over the place. Nevertheless, I do agreed to have fence to protect all the flowers and keep natural awake all the time. I went here with 4 adults and 2 kids. So, I used 2 kids as the model to practice my camera and I found out that taking kid photo is very fun, but very difficult as well. They will not stay still to let you take good photo. Anyway, I quite like my photo this time. Hope you enjoy it as well.
Surfing the web - trying to get an exact meaning of Lah and find this interesting site http://www.singaporecanlah.com/why_singaporecanlah/
Singapore - LAH simply means able to do or more positvely “Definately NO problem” in an affirmative way. This lah is a very effective single word in helping our foreign friends to adapt into our Singapore singlish culture and way of life…. Malaysia has “Boleh!!” and we have “Ok Lah!!”
5 friends sleepovers
4 months out since last sleep over
3 months since the new one join this world.
2 more weeks to nextmeet up (but still one short
)
1 new one coming soon in December
yes.. ordinary but eventful..
As of Dec 21, 2007 - singaporelah team was short of another person - leaving singapore to purse a personal interest…..(but wow a big interest….with that i can said i have a friend whom is a general manager of xxx company hehe)…Recent gathering made me miss them so much, feeling so lonesome in the world of jungle, needing folks to listen, read and understand what i am bitching about, bringing some sensibility into me, scold me and yet so much standing by my side….well maybe that’s life - we can’t stay at the same spot forever - people bound to move….
Talking about recent gathering - as an ignorant singaporean i learnt something about my dearest neighbour - when u want to cross the link and is uncertain whether u need to declare anything or not - always go to the "normal lane". And what is the "normal lane"? That is the RED lane…..yes correct - the normal lane is the red lane. The green lane is the lane u crossed when u really really have NOTHING to declare…An "expensive" lesson to learn it but the fun of the day soon get rid of this lesson…i have really enjoyed my 2 days 1 night JB trip - warmly hosted by one of the singaporelah member. We get to enjoy the food - shopping -snacking and best of all bitching..to be exact keep post with each other’s life. Hope our next gathering will come soon….
Yeap - we are a bunch of lazy folks. Its not like we are the most happening people in the world but more like busy with doing the most ordinary things…
Since it is last January that this site has been left with no posts! I see it a duty to fill it with at least 1 post for the year..
Sorry - its a post about nothing but only rantings…
will be 1 person short starting Jan 15
but fret not.. spore is so near & cheap to travel to
links to budget airlines

We should celebrate Christmas in the cold place. Sitting next to chimney, outside is snowing, drinking wine and a feast of roasted turkey. However, we adapted this celebration to 'Singaporelah's style'. So, we decided to make the trip to Kenyir lake, Terengganu, Malaysia. Instead of sitting next to chimney, we celebrate it next to a water fall. No snowing, only drizzling. Asking about turkey. Sorry sir.. we have chicken wings instead.
Life must always be challenging. Bus was canceled because of flood. I and my friends still want to keep this trip. I have to say that my friend managed it very well. A back up plan was devised within 2 hrs. (well done!). We took bus from JB to KL and KL we took resort van to Terengganu.
We took 3D/2N package and stay in house boat (Kenyir Bahtera Petang House Boat).
Itinerary:-
Day 1 - Arrival, welcome aboard and cruise to Bewah Hill (National Park)/lunch, visit Bewah Cave - one of the prehistoric cave among the magnificent limestone mountain range, trek up to Bewah Cave, you will be award by a fine view over the lake. Cruise to clear water river Sungai Cacing National Park (free activities: swimming, fishing, river side walk.)/dinner (so so only. Give 3 from 5 lah)
Day 2 - Breakfast, cruise to Lasir Waterfall (Very beautiful waterfall. Give 5 points lah) (the largest waterfall in Kenyir Lake)/lunch, jungle trekking, exploring wild plants, birds…(swimming at Lasir Waterfall)/BBQ dinner (Give 5 points for fish lah)
Day 3 - Breakfast, leisure and cruise back to Gawi Jeti
Even though, house boat is not look very luxury and convenience as Star Cruise, but it is fully of hospitality, friendship and service mind from the crews. The most important thing for me is I have very good Chirstmas memory with my friends. No matter how bad the place is, as long as I go with the person I am happy/like to stay with, it is enough for me already. Hope you agree with me too.
If a group of you are trying to kill time (2-3hours) before another
appointment - it is recommended to go check out the Mind Cafe.
Its a cafe with loads of boardgames to spare - guides are available to
recommend what's 'nice' to play if you have no idea which to choose.
We decided to go to our neighbouring country - Malaysia, Johore Bahru
for some good food,
which turned out to be a shopping cum beauty
trip.
We went in JB on a friday night. Caught in a heavy human jam ( queuing
up at immigration counter) and arrived in JB at about 8pm. We headed
straight to some local delicacy after we " loaded off" our "luggages"
at Aunty Linda's house
We were in luck because we managed to have some fresh wild boar meat at
"Gui Lin". The owner just hunted the wild boar the day itself!! Very
delicious… yummy.. After dinner, we decided to go for some desserts.
We went to the infamous Bo Bo Cha Cha at XXXXX, highly recommended by
the locals and many Singaporeans. Very unique taste for the Bo Bo Cha
Cha and I was pleasantly surprised by the ice kacang
Instead of the
normal sugar syrup, it was drizzled with choclate sauce!! Very special
indeed…
Next morning, we went to this authentic coffee shop for some
freshly brewed coffee and kaya-butter buns. For Singaporeans, we
found the ambience very special (Malaysian will probably think that
we were very "sua ku"
). After a light breakfast, we
headed to Holiday Plaza for some shopping ( Achievement?
bought 2 pairs of shoes and 6 sets of bra within an hour!
Not bad!).
For lunch, we went to Kerala for some Indian food. I REALLY liked the
Ayam Redang and the fish cutlet was also very good! However, the
price was rather steep. For 4 persons, we paid 57 ringgit and
all we had was something like "chap chai" which consisted of briyani,
ayam redang, mutton curry, papadam, small side dishes (radish, lady's
fingers), 3 glasses of Iced Lemon tea and 1 Bandung.
We went to Pelangi for some more shopping after lunch. We headed
straight to Vincci and each of us bought at least 1 pair of shoes! Oh
Boy! Aren't the sales staff happy? Of course, after that more
shopping followed… hee hee! Before we moved on to our next "agenda",
we bought goreng pisang (next to Holiday plaza) back as snack…
YUMMY …. Slurps!
We got to know of this nail painting services available via Aunty Linda
and decided to go for it. Nail painting for both hands and feet cost
only 30 Ringit! VERY CHEAP,esp to Singaporeans. So all 4 of us queued
in line for nail painting. We started at 6pm and by the time
we finished, it was already 10pm! Although all of us were very
famished by then, we were very satisfied with the result so much
so that we decided to book a nail-painting appointment in Feb for
CNY!
Major shopping areas are undergoing renovation and new shopping malls are in the making. The newest shopping mall - Vivo City, it boasts over 1million sft of retail , F&B & entertainment areas. New shopping malls will be springing up next to Wisma Atria, opposite Centrepoint (Centrepoint itself is under major renovation) & Angmokio. Even non-famous shopping areas like the Novena Square is under renovation…
Of course shopping is as usual & the management do try make the shopping experience as less disruptive as possible - but if you do not like the all the temporary boards & walkways - then come Singapore in December.
As we missed our planned trip to Bangkok, we divert instead to Melaka for a short trip - only 2 hour drive from the causeway link.
First stop was the Portugese settlement for lunch. It was a dissapointment - it has lost its originality & replaced by commercial 'billboard's covering the entrance to the square.
We stopped over at the St John's Fort followed by the famous A'famosa Fort but right opposite for Fort - there is this big ugly modern square wannabe under construction. It is not the quaint little town it used to be. The town is undergoing major constructions of 'NEW' buildings, squares & what not. I wonder if the town council knows that the major draw of Melaka is the historical aspects, the small streets, the non-existent walk ways & the non-existant of modern buildings..
At least we were very pleased with the Hotel ! > Hotel Puri . Everything is at least as original as possible. Reasonably priced. Literally birds are allowed to nest there in the living room! Saw several nests & a very loving pair too =). I wonder if they were lured by the lavendar filled aroma from reception area. The hotel offers good spa package at reasonable prices (15% discount for guests)
Of course - the must try food are the chicken rice balls, jonker's satay, pineapple tarts & nyonya dishes.
Educational visit about the life & customs of the Babas & Nyonyas at the Baba Nyonya heritage musuem is recommended (only 7mins walk from hotel Puri) . Guided tour starts at 10.30am.
Still despite the changes to the town,it was an enjoyable 2 days trip .
Highly recommended for side trips when in Singapore !
Rating: 4 out of 5 lahs
Post our 3 hour walk to cross the tree tops, we went down to the Roti Prata House for some roti pratas. The menu is interesting, but the mushroom pratas are sold out, the garlic pratas is crispy enough, and ahh.. the maggi mee goreng brought memories back for me..
On cleanlines - its not like squeaky clean but more like slippery in the oily sort of way.
We rate it 3.5 out of 5 'lah's
We went to HSBC Tree Top on 10 Sep. 7 of us set out at around 9.30am and were pleasantly surprised to find lots of people gathering there already.
We were first greeted by curious looking monkeys. As we tracked along the trail, there were many extraordinary plants and trees. Among all, one left a very deep impression on me and that was the walking ginger!
Overall, it has been quite an experience for me and it feels really good to know that we have such beautiful nature reserve in our very own home.

Our first outing after Singaporelah was setup… SSO (Singapore Symphony Orchestra) at Botanic Garden. Was surprised to find that we were being directed off a few carparks as it was all fully packed - hmm our nation people do have something else to do other than shopping during weekends..or it was more of other nationality…?
